Making media for active learning throughout life.

Learning is a lifetime journey. It does not stop when someone passes a test or gets a job. The barriers of age, distance and resources can be overcome when systems adopt innovations that meet learners where they are.

For quality learning to happen, teachers must have access to methods materials and media that clearly meet their needs and reflect their lives.

At Spectacle Learning Media, we help our partners make use of a wide variety of resources to design media that engages and motivates learning throughout life.
Universal Declation of Human Rights, 1948
Article 23
Learning is a fundamental human right

Yet millions of children, teenagers and adults are denied the right to learn simply because of
who they are, where they live, and what they do not have.
We work with communities, organizations and systems to help ensure the right to quality learning through provision of accessible, engaging learning media grounded in
local knowledge, stories and traditions.

  1. What we do
At SLM, we work with partners to provide technical support to the creation of all forms of learning media-- that includes books, other forms of print media, audio-visual aids, video, and e-learning solutions.
  2. How we work
We begin each project with a shared vision, helping stakeholders clarify and refine their goals. We then launch a collaborative process of crafting the media that responds to learners' needs and takes them where they want to go.
  3. Where we work
Our projects are mainly school and community based, but some have been successfully implemented system-wide. Over the last 10 years, we have provided technical support to media and learning materials development in Somalia, South Sudan, Tajikistan, Trinidad and Tobago, the United States, and Yemen.
  4. Our partners
Our partners are media creators and users wherever we work, including international organizations, ministries of education and NGOs with a focus on education. Many of our projects have focused on peace building in parts of the world suffering from prolonged conflict.
